Mongolian Parliament opened its fall session today after lengthy summer recess. Demberel Damdin, Speaker of the Parliament said “ This parliamentary session is opening in time when Mongolian economy is picking up again.Annual economic growth reached 7.4%. Government revenue is expected to exceed planned level. Price of major export commodities such as gold, copper, iron ore and cashmere increased in the world market. Foreign currency reserve reached $ 1.6 billion US”.
54 lawmakers out of 76 lawmakers were present during the opening ceremony. Agenda of the fall session include about 20 draft laws. The parliament is expected to debate on important issues such as development of mega mining project of Tavan Tolgoi coking coal deposit and development of heavy industrial complex in Eastern Gobi province and other mining projects. Mongolia has much mineral resource including gold, copper, coal and uranium reserves.
