Message from the Foreign Minister Batbold Sukhbaatar on 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries
I wish to extend my sincere greetings to the readers of the Global Times as Mongolia and the People's Republic of China mark together this year the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Mongolia was one of the few countries to recognize the People's Republic of China immediately following its founding on October 1, 1949. Therefore, I believe that my visit to this great nation these autumn days is timely and important.
Our history is rich and unique. Good neighborliness, mutual respect and friendship have always been the guideline of the Mongolia-China bilateral relationship.
In the last two decades our bilateral relationship, in particular trade and economic relations, has dramatically increased and there is a great potential to grow even further in the years to come. At present China is the largest trading partner and investor of Mongolia.
Today our cooperation encompasses many areas such as culture, education, science, tourism and defense. These ties are of vital significance to strengthen mutual trust and understanding between the peoples of our countries.
The purpose of my visit to our southern neighbor at the invitation of His Excellency Yang Jiechi, Chinese Foreign Minister, is to explore opportunities to further expand our bilateral relationship in the fields of finance, infrastructure, agriculture and mining.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the friendly people of China on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
