Mongolian Economist Jargalsaikhan Dambadarjaa touched important issue-railway gauge size in Mongolia. Mongolian railway gauge is former Imperial Russian-modified by Soviets-1520 mm. Apparently, rest of the world complies with "narrow gauge" or 1435 mm standard size railway including People's Republic of China.
This railway gauge difference sparked heated debate in Mongolia today as Energy Resource, a private company is preparing to build direct railway to China in South Gobi.
Jargalsaikhan nicely explained the difference between the two railway gauges and hopes his story will inspire discussion among the Mongolians on this"historic decision".
