President Ts.Elbegdorj said air pollution in UB requires immediate attention, not more talk
On January 11, President Elbegdorj held a consultation with heads of political parties’ groups in the parliament, heads of some standing committees, MPs and authorities of Minerals and Energy Minister and Ulaanbaatar City about reducing smoke and air pollution in Ulaanbaatar City.
They exchanged views on ways of reducing the pollution, the required financial sources and technical solutions. To begin the meeting, the President said, “The current smoke and air pollution in Ulaanbaatar has reached catastrophic levels. Although it has been talked about for many years, there haven’t been any noticeable results.
In a disaster situation, we cannot afford loosing time talking and discussing plans, instead, we must act and right away. For this reason, Parliament, Government, ministries, agencies and citizens all need to take part in finding the right solution”. He discussed his own opinions on ways of reducing air pollution and exchanged views with participants of the meeting.
President Elbegdorj assigned relevant officials to urgently work out applicable laws and resolutions in collaboration with professional organizations and submit them to the National Security Council
