Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Forms Strategic Alliance with Breakthrough PR in Mongolia Partnership to cultivate and capture high growth opportunities in rapidly growing market

[July 8, 2011, Hong Kong & Ulaanbaatar] Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (“Ogilvy PR”) today announced the signing of an exclusive strategic alliance with Breakthrough PR, one of the first public relations firms in Mongolia. The alliance has been formed to leverage Breakthrough PR’s local Mongolian expertise and Ogilvy PR’s extensive global network to explore communications-related opportunities in the rapidly growing Mongolian market.

In February 2011, Citigroup analysts added Mongolia to their list of Global Growth Generators.  Global Growth Generators are countries “that stand out in terms of their potential growth” from 2010 to 2050.  According to the Mongolian Stock Exchange, in 2010, 336 companies listed on the exchange with a total market capitalization of approximately US$1 billion, compared to approximately US$430 million in 2009. Behind rapidly developing mining, energy, infrastructure, banking and financial services sectors, the World Bank and IMF estimate that once large mines begin full-scale production in Mongolia, the sector could propel growth at rates of more than 25% in the next three years.

“Mongolia is the new frontier for businesses looking for opportunities for growth,” said Scott Kronick, North Asia President for Ogilvy PR. “We have many clients needing communications support in Mongolia and after evaluating the market, Breakthrough PR was the one firm we met that was closest to our culture and values,” Kronick added.

The strategic alliance is an exclusive arrangement whereby Ogilvy PR will work with Breakthrough PR on public relations and public affairs for multinational and domestic companies, enterprises or institutions operating in Mongolia. Breakthrough PR will also have access to Ogilvy & Mather Group’s broader global network to support Mongolian firms or public entities with an interest in broadening their reach beyond the country, in the areas of advertising, one-to-one marketing, digital marketing, sales promotion, media services and nation branding as well as other discipline-specific areas.

Breakthrough PR Founder & Director Betina Moreira Infante commented, “We see increased demand for both domestic- and outbound-related communications services in Mongolia.  This partnership gives us a larger platform of professionals, techniques and expertise to support firms that are contributing to growth, jobs and prosperity in Mongolia. We’re looking forward to deepening our relationship with Ogilvy PR and cultivating the abundant new opportunities that lay ahead.”

Founded in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in early 2008, Breakthrough PR specializes in corporate public relations and development communications, which integrates communications and outreach with development goals. Breakthrough PR has worked with leading industry clients providing a full range of PR-related services, such as corporate communications, media relations and training, stakeholder engagement, event management, social media and marketing communications.

The strategic alliance is effective immediately.
