Sources say Mongolia may face power shortage this winter

Mongolia may face power shortage this winter as Russian side is very reluctant to provide additional power export to Mongolia. 
Some sources which preferred to stay anonymous told MonInfo news services company, negotiation with the Russian side over import of additional power is continuing and so far, Russian side is very reluctant to provide additional power to Mongolia.

Mongolian central region's power grid is connected to Power Grid of Russia and Mongolia relies on Russia to meet its power needs. 

Mongolian energy structure and infrastructure is very outdated and requires massive investment to upgrade this.

Government planned to build power station no.5 in Ulaanbaatar to meet ever-growing power needs of the capital city. However, it will require at least another, 3-5 years to build this power plant. 

The sources said, Mongolian energy authority is planning for possible rotational restriction of power supply in the districts of Ulaanbaatar.
