Chinese foreign minister holds talks with Mongolian foreign minister

　　On January 16, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with visiting Foreign Minister Luvsanvandan Bold of Mongolia in Beijing,.

　　Wang Yi expressed that, this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Mongolia, the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendly Relations and Cooperation between Mongolia and China, and the China-Mongolia Friendship and Exchange Year. Three happy events come together. China attaches great importance to China-Mongolia relations and wishes to make joint efforts with Mongolia to positively implement the consensus reached between the state leaders of the two countries, to keep on enriching the bilateral strategic partnership, to be neighbours of friendly feelings and kindness with mutual benefit and with our hearts close to each other, and to be trustworthy strategic partners reliable to each other. It will bring benefits to the two countries and the two peoples.

　　Luvsanvandan Bold expressed that Mongolia and China are linked by mountains and rivers and are friendly neighboring countries. For the 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations have yielded fruitful achievements. Developing relations with China is the unalterable priority of Mongolia’s foreign policy, and Mongolia is willing to unceasingly deepen the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.

　　Both sides agreed that:

　　First, to strengthen high-level exchanges. To unceasingly improve strategic mutual trust, and to firmly support each other on issues concerning core interests of both sides.

　　Second, to deepen practical cooperation. To launch the "2+2" connectivity joint working group as soon as possible. To strengthen big project cooperation in infrastructure, energy and resources. To promote bilateral trade to reach the goal of US$10 billion at a possible early date. To explore the feasibility of setting up a free trade area between the two countries.

　　Third, to further expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, consolidating the foundation of friendly public opinion in the two countries. To well arrange the commemorative activities of the China-Mongolia Friendship and Exchange Year. To strengthen cooperation in Chinese language teaching, youth and media exchanges and other fields. To further facilitate the personnel exchanges of both sides.

　　Fourth, to strengthen multilateral cooperation and to safeguard common interests. As victors of the World War II, both countries should jointly safeguard victorious outcomes of the world Anti-Fascist War, and will jointly hold commemorative activities of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World War II next year.

　　Both sides as well exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

　　Following the talks, Wang Yi and Luvsanvandan Bold signed the “Arrangement for Celebrating the China-Mongolia Friendship and Exchange Year.”
