Mongolia's population to hit three million

ULAN BATOR, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Mongolian authorities said Monday that the country is expected to welcome its 3rd millionth citizen this month and a formula is made to select the one.
The Ministry of Health and Sports and the National Statistical Committee (NSC) co-organized an online meeting here to introduce to all provinces the program designed to select the third millionth Mongolian, which is based on a statistical report of the ratio of births to deaths.
Minister of Health and Sports G.Shiilegdamba instructed the NSC and relevant departments to quickly deliver the formula to the public and make clear all statistics about births and about all women who are about to give birth.
Mongolia witnessed in 2014 the highest rate of births, or 82,839, which lifted the country's population to 2.9959 million as of Dec. 31, 2014.
The first millionth citizen of Mongolia was born in February 1962, and the second in 1988.
