ULAN BATOR, June 16 (Xinhua) -- At least one person has been killed after heavy downpours and flood hit the central and western parts of Mongolia on Saturday afternoon, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Sunday.
"Rescuers found the body of a 4-year-old girl who was missing in a flood in Lun soum of Tuv province on Saturday," the NEMA said in a statement.
"Heavy downpours and flood have hit central and western Mongolian provinces since Saturday, damaging some roads. So, travelling between the capital city of Ulan Bator and western Mongolian provinces has been restricted for an indefinite period," the agency added.
According to the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, heavy downpours would remain active across large parts of the country in the coming days, urging citizens to take extra precautions against expected disasters.
