HOHHOT, July 5 (Xinhua) -- A collection of Mongolian literature works was published in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Thursday.
It is the first time that China has systematically compiled Mongolian literature works covering a period of 800 years, from the 1240s when the Mongolian characters emerged to 2008.
The collection has a total of 20 volumes, and legends, incantations, epics and folk stories are included, presenting Mongolians' pursuit for truth, goodness and beauty as well as their harmonious relationship with nature and other ethnic groups.
The project started in 2010, and it took nine years for scholars to search, collect, select, transcribe, compile and annotate the materials.
Compiling work on ancient and folk literature was done in China, Mongolia and Russia, and selecting work on modern and contemporary literature was conducted in 10 provinces, autonomous regions and cities in China.
