French Areva Group's Paris-based CEO Ann Lauvergeon visited Mongolia on Oct 5,2009.The French nuclear power company operates in east Gobi or Dornogobi basin in south east Mongolia close to Chinese border. Areva-Mongolia LLC is exploring for uranium deposits in Mongolia and in Dornogobi it found several potential uranium deposits.
The President of the french company and Enkhbat, chairman of the Nuclear Energy Agency of Mongolia signed Memorandum of Understanding on "Cooperation in field of radioactive mineral resources and peaceful use of nuclear energy" between Government of Mongolia and the French company.
During the visit, Ann Lauvergeon visited President Elbegdorj and prime Minister Bayar and Batbold, Minister of Foreign Relations and exchanged opinions on improvement of trade, economic relations and cooperations between the two countries.
