Iranian judoka Saeid Mollaei to fight for Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar - Iranian judoka Saeid Mollaei has made the surprising decision to fight for Mongolia at the Qingdao Masters 2019.

The competition will be held in Chinese city Qingdao from Dec. 12 to 14 with 476 judokas from 70 countries.

President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, a former Sambo wrestling champion, handed him out the passport.

In Qingdao, Mollaei was supposed to fight under the International Refugee Team (IRT). However, at the website of the IJF he is a member of Mongolia.

Mollaei, who is still ranked World Number three, should normally lose his points once switching to another country.

In his category U81kg the first Mongolian fighter is Otgonbaatar Uuganbaatar at place 17 and Nyamsuren Dagvasuren is ranked 27th.

The 27-year-old Iranian athlete is a famous judoka who won a gold medal at the Baku 2018 World Championships and a bronze medal at the Budapest 2017 World Championships.

Iran's non-oil trade with Mongolia down 23.16 pct in value

TEHRAN, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran traded 2,544 tons of non-oil commodities worth 11.43 million U.S. dollars with Mongolia in the last Iranian calendar year ending on March 20, 2019, Eghtesad Online news website reported on Tuesday.

The figures registered a decline of 18.14 percent and 23.16 percent in weight and value respectively compared with the previous year, the report said.

Iran's exports to Mongolia stood at 442 tons worth 253,000 dollars.

Iran mainly exported floorings, raisins, pineapple juice and chocolate to Mongolia during the 12-month period.

Mongolia exported 2,102 tons of goods worth 11.18 million dollars to Iran.

Mongolia's main exports to Iran included lamb and mutton.

Decline in Iran's Trade With Mongolia

Iran traded 2,523 tons of non-oil commodities worth $11.44 million with Mongolia in the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2019), registering a 18.14% and 23.16% decline in tonnage and value respectively compared with the year before, latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show.

Iran’s exports to Mongolia stood at 442 tons worth $253,712, down 14.82% and 69.35% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year.

Iran mainly exported floorings, raisins, pineapple juice and chocolates to Mongolia during the 12-month period.

Mongolia exported 2,102 tons of goods worth $11.18 million to Iran, down 18.77% and 20.45% in tonnage and value and value respectively YOY. Mongolia was the 70th exporter of goods to Iran over the year and its main commodities included lamb and mutton.

Iran, Mongolia seek closer ties in diverse areas

TEHRAN, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian foreign minister and visiting Mongolian deputy foreign minister on Tuesday called for expansion of ties in diverse areas, Tasnim news agency reported.

Mohammad Javad Zarif and Battsetseg Batmunkh exchanged views about a range of issues, including ways to boost the bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

The two diplomats also discussed a host of topics, including parliamentary ties, agricultural cooperation especially in the livestock sector, holding joint business forums, and cooperation in transportation, scientific, cultural, oil and energy sectors.

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that "Tehran is ready to develop and strengthen its economic and trade ties with Mongolia, and harness all the capacities and opportunities to deepen the bilateral relations."

Mongolia, new buyer of Iranian crude

TEHRAN, Apr. 16 (MNA) – An NIOC official announced Iran and Mongolia have resumed negotiations on Iranian crude oil sales to the East Asian country through China’s route.

Seyyed Mohsen Ghamsari, Executive Director for International Affairs at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), touched upon the latest status of talks between Iran and Mongolia over crude exports saying “Mongolia marks a newly-emerged market for the sale and export of Iran’s oil.”

Ghamsari pointed to the recent Mongolian foreign minister’s visit to Tehran and the proposal of purchasing Iranian crude asserting “Iran perceives no limitations on oil sales to Mongolia.”

The official stressed that Mongolia is a landlocked sovereign state in East Asia eliminating the possibility to use marine routes for oil transportation.

He deemed China as one possible route for exporting Iranian crude to Mongolia; “negotiations are being held with Mongolian officials in order to finalize the oil export path through China.”

During the earlier meeting with Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lundeg Purevsuren, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh had emphasized the possibility of exporting 50 to 60 thousand barrels of Iranian crude oil to the East Asian country via Chinese companies.

Mongolia seeks Iran's investment in energy sector: FM

TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia is looking for the investment of Iranians in its energy and oil sectors, the visiting Mongolian foreign minister Lundeg Purevsuren said here on Wednesday.

Beside cooperation on historical, cultural and scientific areas, Iran and Mongolia can cooperate in mining, agricultural and energy sectors, Purevsuren said.

As regard with the economic cooperation with Mongolia, the outlooks of investors should go beyond mere local market of the country, since Mongolia is a gate for big market in the region, he said.

His country is an exporter of oil to its neighbors, therefore the Iranian investors can invest in drilling and extraction of oil and finance in its energy industry, Purevsuren said.

Also, the agricultural and animal husbandry sectors of Mongolia have the capacity for the Iranian investments as it is in possession of some 70 million herds, he added.

For his part, Zarif said that economic areas are not the only focus of Iranian government in its relations with the neighbors and with the regional states, Iran and Mongolia have also held good talks for expansion of mutual cooperation on scientific, cultural and common heritage.

Heading an economic delegation, Purevsuren arrived in Iran on Wednesday for talks with Iranian economic and trade officials.
