ULAN BATOR, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two drivers were killed and 31 passengers injured in a bus accident early Tuesday in southeastern Mongolia, local media reported, citing the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The bus was carrying 45 passengers from the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator to Zamiin-Uud soum in the southeastern province of Dornogovi, NEMA said in a statement.
The accident occurred about 6:00 a.m. Tuesday local time (2200 GMT Monday) when the bus hit a welcoming gate of the Zamiin-Uud soum, according to NEMA.
Ambulances and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident, NEMA said, adding that the injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals.
The accident is currently under investigation.
